Finished

Well, I'm a certified Wilderness First Responder and therefore I have officially completed the Wilderness Leadership Program at Capilano College here in Squamish. After marking our First Aid written exams we headed off to the Howe Sound Brewery Pub and Restaurant where we had a room rented for us so that we could have a small farewell. Four of the girls from our program made an interpretive dance which the performed for us all. It cleverly incorperated all the different skills that we'd all learned throughout the program and did it in such a way that the entire room was in stitches on the floor laughing. My good buddy Pat Humer then played a Pictoral DVD that he'd spent many many hours creating when he should have been studying first aid. It was very touching and happy and emotional; a very good way to say goodbye. We presented our loving instructors with some gift certificates on behalf of us all and thanked them for their efforts and enthousiasm. The proceedings then moved to Boston Pizza where some people spent a lot of money on food while the more intelligent ones (like Dan and I) ate before we got there and then spent zero dollars on the water that we drank :) It was there that we enjoyed eachother's company for one last time before people would begin to forget everything else which happened that night at the Grizzly Pub.
I had a great time despite other's intoxication. There is something very friendly and philosophical about people with a couple of brewskies in them. All in all it was a night to for me to remember forever. And now I go to say goodby to all of those lovely folk... definitely not for good though.

I hope you all have equally lovely farewells and equal or better success in your finals.

Sincerely, Stewart Reimer

Toasters

Toasters is one of many priceless gems that can be found in the little town of Squamish BC. On three seperate occasions I have found this pleasant, hole-in-the-wall, breakfast restaurant to be most satisfactory in several regards. First of all, when visiting toasters you are generally surrounded by friends whom you love. Maybe it is after a party the night before when laughter arises from some past hilarity. Or maybe it's the morning after a big exam day when everyone is relieved and loose, ready to share a great time with eachother. Whoever the company, the second element to the success is the food. Toasters furnishes your plate with four slices of homemade toast, two eggs however you want them, four slices of bacon, and the rest of your plate loaded with fresh hashbrowns made from nugget potatoes. After your finished and maybe you're looking for a challenge, the owner of the restaurant offers unlimited toast to all customers. It truly is delicious. So you say how much does it cost? Well tax included, a whopping breakfast like that is under $7.50, a well earned price for the experience.
Just one word of warning: beware of the grumpy waitress :) It's actually quite comical.
So next time you're in Squamish and you pass the T-Ho's, jump on over behind the Holiday Inn and discover Toasters. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Wilderness First Aid is the greatest thing in the world. There is nothing better than learning something that you know full well will benefit someone else. It is very empowering and I hope you all have a chance to do it some day.

So a couple of days ago I was on top of Mt. Seymour with Dan Dejong and the view as the sun was going down below the clouds was amazing. So I pulled out my camera and saved the moment for the benefit of everyone who reads this blog. Here are the pictures:

Note the raven flying through the picture... ultra cool :)

Almost There...

Just one last paper to write! I'm so very excited. All I have to do after that is ace Wilderness First Aid and Christmas is mine! However that means saying goodbye to 28 friends which will be pretty sad. That makes me think of Jodi Austin. Saying goodbye to her was the saddest thing in the world. I wish that I could see her again. What an amazing person.
My goodness, I feel as though I haven't a clue how my friends are despite all this blog business. I want to sit down with all of you guys with some chai tea and have some time just to catch up. I think we should do that... It really was James' idea so I won't take the credit but if wine and cigars don't work out I suggest chai tea and a bunch of couches or cushions and pillows like the ancients and the Japanese. We can have some genuine conversation and perhaps hold hands and pray. It would be Koinania... fellowship. Maybe we could even share the Lord's Supper and remember that we're all sinners and how grateful we are for the blood of Christ. That's what I feel like right now. I feel like I have all of this love pent up waiting for you guys to come home so that I can unload on you.
...maybe I'll make cinnamon buns.
